I was slipping out of focus , barely hanging on . You were fading in the distance , and were nearly gone. This was someone else's vision. Whose I don't recall. Naked trees stood in the background . Indicating it was after our fall. Cobwebs in the attic of the mind . Dusting off old times . Spur tales that will unwind . Stored away for someone else to find. In a distant time, will history be kind. Frozen smiles, eyes distracted, Styles that all have changed . Family portrait , still together. Neatly all arranged. House of cards that still was standing . Harboring false claims. Different angles capture cryptic clues, That all would soon be up in flames . Cobwebs in the attic of the mind . Dusting off old times . Spur tales that will unwind . Stored away for someone else to find. In a distant time, will history be kind. Mothers trading home spun tales, Inside a country store . Children laughing, building castles, On a seaside shore. Fathers round the table, Casting caution to the wind. One last family gathering , Before all the ranks would start to thin. Cobwebs in the attic of the mind . Dusting off old times . Spur tales that will unwind . Stored away for someone else to find. In a distant time, will history be kind.

When I was a child , I was pretty wild . I learned early on about the birds and bees. I knew hatching eggs took more than nests in trees. But now that I am older , and get a cold shoulder . I just shrug it off and I let it be . It all comes down to vibes and chemistry . I felt a tremor when you walked by, Tingling down to my shoes. Something started boiling inside. Somebody lit a fuse. And got me going . How can I tell, when I'm doing well with you . Which way are you leaning. What can I do ? Can you give a hint or a clue. How to make one and one , two . When I see the lightening , I don't find to frightening . It's just the sky lighting up in song . Even though I know that somewhere, something is wrong . When I hear the thunder , I begin to wonder It it only bluster that makes one strong . Is that what I thought before you had come along . When the night fell early and left me cold . I couldn't understand . How the thunder and lightning made me feel bold. Why I have to take your hand, and draw you closer . How can I tell , when I'm doing well, with you. Am I just dreaming. What can I do ? Can't you give me a hint or a clue. How to make one and one , two . Statues don't bleed and mountains don't need, Any flesh or blood to survive . But I'm not standing still or running up a hill . Because, I get nosebleeds when I dive, Into unchartered waters . Madam Ouija believes, when she reads her tea leaves . Love is in the cards somewhere down the line . She says , "Just hang on, It's only a matter of time " Well, I don't have forever , but better late than never. Miracles cam happen for those left behind . And here I thought that I'd come to the end of the line. I never thought that I'd ever be somebody's heart desire . But you came along and crashed through my shield . Now my ashes are on fire . And feel them burning . How can I tell , when I am doing well, with you . I can't help how I am feeling . What can I do , can you give me a hint or clue ? How to make one and one , two . How to make one and one, two . How to make one and one two .

I Am True 04:23
Like the mirror that says you're pretty . Like the rock beneath the city . Like the gum that stubbornly clings to your shoe. Like a hapless bird of prey . Like a dog trained not to stray. I am true. Yes I am true . I am not molded to perfection . I don't make the right selections I don't always finish things that I intend to do . I sometines roam around. Drink myself into the ground . But I am true . Yes, I 'm true I am true. I will follow you . Cause I want to be true . True to you . I might fall deep in debt . Not cover all my bets . But I always the bills when they come due. I may not reveal my passion . I may be out of fashion. But I am true. Yes I am true . You may think that I cheat . That I am indiscreet . But you know , it's just my weakness shining through . I can't be good all of the time . But I always pay the fine . Cause I am true . Yes I'm true. I am true. I will follow you . Cause I want to be true . True to you . Now you can make me angry . Play little tricks on me. But if you leave me, I don't know what I'll do . Throw away my 4 leaf clover . Let a train run me over . Cause I am true, Yes I'm true .

The bottles are have empty . The rain has come and gone . Another hapless dreamer Sleeps off one more song . The sun sits on the window sill Tossing rays across the floor. Wakes me up and shoves me out the door. I'm making up for lost time . I've got some I O U's And when I go to cash them in , I'll tell you what I do . I'm going to make up for that lost time . The hours that slipped away . I'm going to

I try to act concern, you say why don't you smile . So I try to loosen up , you say be serious for a while . You tell me, save my money . Then you call me cheap. I try to stay awake all night , But you just want to sleep. I've got the will, but maybe I won't . Because I am damned if I do , and damned if I don't. Damned if I do and Damned if I don't. I say romantic things to you in French, but you want Spanish. I try to be more sensitive, you want someone more mannish . I'm running around in circles . I am coming while you are going . I say that I am worried . You say my paranoia is showing . I've got the will, but maybe I won't. Because I am damned if I do, And Damend if I don't.

The journey is long and it's hard . Two thousand miles for an elusive card . He knows that several have tried . He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. He hears his mother weep . Her tears won't let him sleep . It pains his heart , but his mind is made up. He hears his bother's radio, Play three sad songs in a row.

This song was never sung , Although the notes were always there . But the melody was stuck inside my head somewhere. Now I can sing this song ,

Joe Gould 05:53
Hide the ketchup bottles, I see Joe Gould coming in to eat . Dressed in ragged hand me downs , And shoes that overwhelm his bird like feet. He will chew your ear off, Finagling to get some of your food. I hope to hell , he's not hung over . In one of his foul testy moods. He'll rant and rave dress you down . Complain about this heartless town. His dear old New York town . Discarded cigarrete butts, Bulging in hos pockets like loose change . Some praise him as eccentric , Others proffer that he is deranged . He plans his day with care, Who he's going to hit up for a loan. He likes to do it face to face, Having an aversion to the phone . He charms them with his toothless grin. Before they know it , they have let him in . Please , don't knock upon his door. He doesn't live there anymore. He is on a distant shore . With a suitcase filled with lore . Carried to the end , His secrets he'll defend From those who will not lend , A penny for his thoughts , to dream again .
10.
Well, I don't know . But I think the message is clear . Another time for change is here , But I just don't know . How far to go. "Cause we partied pretty hard in the past . And living on borrowed time can't last . And it's come past due . Collecting from you . One's feeling lonely , two are feeling beat . Three are lost and living on the street . Four are dead and buried in the ground . And every time I look around . Everybody's left town.
11.
If I had a dollar for every time I was a fool , I could build me a great big mansion with an indoor swimming pool . And mistakes that I keep repeating , Are the ones that i forgot . I guess that shows how much I know . Not a lot . I keep trying to start over . But it's just the same old cage . Like a calendar of Decembers all trapped on the same page . And I try to trick myself into being something that I am not. I guess that shows , how much I know. Not a lot. I thought happy endings happened just like in a book. But maybe I misread the words. I better take a second look . I thought that you are the fragile one . Like crystal on a shelf. When I dropped you , you would fall apart . And not regain yourself. But I am the one who crumbled , And was left tied in a knot . I guess that show how much I know , Not a lot. I thought happy endings happened just like in a book. But maybe I misread the words. I better take a second look . There's no fool like an old fool . Trying to play the same old game . Thinking 20, 30 , 40 or even 50 is all the same . But there's a rude awakening when you go to turn back the clock . I guess that shows how much I know . Not a lot. I guess that shows how much I know . Not a lot.
